The members of the XPHI team are Alberto Vanzo (PI), Peter Anstey, Johnnie Pedersen and Tom Sorell. Alberto and Peter work primarily on early modern experimental philosophy (questions 1-6). Johnnie’s and Tom’s research focuses on current-day empirical ethics (questions 7-9).
Peter Anstey is ARC Future Fellow and Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Sydney. He specializes in early modern philosophy and is the author of John Locke and Natural Philosophy (OUP 2011).
Johnnie Pedersen is a Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Warwick. Johnnie defended his dissertation, ‘A Defense of Evidentialism about Moral Intuitions’, at UC Davis in 2014. Aside from the relationship between experimental philosophy and moral epistemology and methodology, he has interests in normative ethics, and meta-ethics more generally.
Tom Sorell is Professor of Politics and Philosophy at the Department of Politics and International Studies of the University of Warwick. He has published extensively in early modern philosophy, moral and political philosophy. His current research is in the moral and political issues raised by emergencies, including terrorist emergencies.
Alberto Vanzo is an AHRC Early-Career Research Fellow of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Warwick. He works on Kant’s philosophy, early modern natural philosophy, and the history and methodology of philosophical historiography.
